We're excited to partner with our friend and collaborator, James Lewis Tucker, for our first ever flower printing workshop at Flower Porch.
"James Lewis Tucker holds a BFA in Printmaking from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. In 2013, he founded The Aesthetic Union, a letterpress print shop and gallery in San Francisco’s Mission District that quickly became a vital hub for art, collaboration, and the city’s creative community. Tucker’s work, which has long traversed the realms of printmaking, design, and poetry, was deeply intertwined with the cultural fabric of San Francisco for over a decade. In 2023, after selling the shop to his former employees, he relocated to Sonoma County, where he continues to pursue his artistic practice. In addition to leading mindfulness workshops and Zen meditation groups, Tucker teaches letterpress workshops at North Bay Letterpress Arts, where he also serves on the board. He is renowned for his extensive catalog of woodblock print landscapes and his published poetry books, further solidifying his dual practice as an artist and writer."
We’ll begin the morning with a guided farm tour and flower harvest led by Jaclyn, Creative Director of Flower Porch. Then, we’ll move into the studio where James will guide us through the art of flower printing, all while enjoying light refreshments in a relaxed, creative setting.
This workshop includes:
Light snacks and beverages upon arrival
Instruction and materials to create a one-of-a-kind flower print using a small but mighty printing press on 100% cotton paper
Please arrive promptly at the the start time as we will use the full duration of the class. We recommend always wearing comfortable clothing and footwear for walking around the farm in all terrain including dirt and mud.
Refund & Cancellations: Due to limited seating, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before your class. Cancellations made before this window receive a credit toward a future class of equal value. No refunds are available.
